  1. - Before running a defrag program (whether it is commercial or shareware),
  2. it is a VERY good idea to back-up your entire hard disk. It isn't that the
  3. programs are unreliable, but they are performing a very complex task by
  4. moving all of your data around and you can never be too safe.

  6. - DO NOT INTERRUPT a defrag program while it is in progress. This means no
  7. re-booting, no turning off of the power,...Nothing. A defrag program is
  8. constantly re-organizing important internal file allocation tables and to
  9. suddenly interrupt this process could be disastrous. Some defrag programs
  10. display a message on the screen while they are in progress, telling you
  11. exactly what key or key sequence to hit if you wish to break out of the
  12. defrag program, such as ESC or SPACE BAR etc. IF you must break out of the
  13. defrag program while it is in progress, and IF the program displays a key
  14. sequence that you can hit to break out, follow the key sequence exactly and
  15. WAIT for the system to be returned to you.
